Dental discount plans, Anyone know if they really help you save money on dental services.
I have been seeing more and more dental discount plans comin up. I need to help reduce my dental cost and I can not really afford dental insurance. I live in NY were insurance is very costly and you have to deal with waiting periods.
Discount plans seems to good to be true. Do they really help you save that much on dental services? I see the discount saving listed but will the dentist give you those prices or can they just still charge you whatever they want?

This web site offer dental discount plans as well as dental insurance for the state of New York. Discount plans are good dental plans when like you stated you do not want to have waiting periods or can not afford the cost of dental insurance.
The fact is dental discount plans do just what they state they do. They save you money for your dental services. Making having dental work done more affordable. I would only advise that you do call the dentist in the plan network to confirm they are still accepting the plan prior to buying one.

The only real problem I have is when you come across a dental discount plan trying to past itself off as dental insurance. When I put in the search box DENTAL INSURANCE that is what I want.
Then when all I get are dental discount plans and I really have to read to find out that is what it is I get really upset about the whole thing.
I did decide to go with a dental discount plan in the end only because it best fit my need at the time. But I bought it from a site the also offer dental insurance.
I felt better buying from a site that was also offing dental insurance. It made me feel better about the site instead of feeling like it was a bate and switch.
My dental discount plan as worked out well but I will be getting dental insurance as soon as I get my current dental needs address. That way I can afford to wait out the waiting periods of the dental insurance plan I would like to have.
