Dental care, Why dont dentist give their costs to you up front.
Every time I go to a dentist they never just tell me my cost up front it is always lets see your insurance first then we will tell you the cost. Why do that do that? Is it so they can charge you more if you have dental insurance? Are their charges different depending on your insurance this does not make sense to me. How are you to shop out dentist when they do not want to tell you their cost for services.

Your cost for dental services can very depending on the type of dental insurance you have. Such as if you have an HMO dental insurance plan, the dentist has to charge based on what they plan state the cost is for each dental service covered.
The fee schedules will be different for each HMO plan they accept depending on how the insurance company set up the plan.
Also say you have a PPO dental insurance plan then the same rings true. Depending on you own plan coverages and the percentage they are going to pay out for preventive, basic, and majors, will depend on cost for dental services.
That is why if you have dental insurance if you are going to use it and want to know the cost they need to know what plan you have.

Troy is totally correct. You should be able to see how depending on the type of dental plan or insurance you may have and how it works with determine cost for your dental services.
With that said. If you do not have dental insurance and are going to pay cash for your dental services then the dental office in question should be able to give you their cost without any issues.
