Dental Benefits Providers, Dental Health Care, Cavities and Novocaine shots: I have dental fears of getting shots. I know I need to have a filling for this cavity on a back tooth but I hate having to have shots which makes me not want to go to the dentist for a filling. What can I do about this? Can a dentist do a filling with out shots?

Most dentist numb your gums out before giving you a shot making so that you do not even feel it any more. If you are nervous just close your eyes so you are not watching it. If it helps bring you head set or I Pod whatever and listen to your music.
I do this all the time at my dental office just to relax it helps me out a lot. In the end I will say that getting a shot is nothing compare to the pain you will be in if you get a toothache.
