San Antonion TX, need affordable dental care or dental insurance.

Saturday, Aug. 14th 2010 10:34 AM

I am in really bad need of affordable dental care or a dental insurance plan that makes having dental care affordable.  I have tried going straight to a dentist but they will not offer me any type of payment plan since I do not have any credit.

I am on a very low income therefore I have no credit cards.  I tried looking for dental insurance but it seems to me as it they have huge monthly payments with out having any real coverages for a year or more.

I know I need to have a few filling addressed and I may even need to pull a tooth but not sure since I can not afford to see the dentist to confirm.   I would be happy either to know of where I can go for low cost dental services or where I can buy a low cost dental insurance plan.   Thanks.

Well you can get low cost dental insurance. It seem by what you have written that you may have be looking a PPO’s or Indemnity plans.

When what you should be looking for is either and HMO dental insurance plan or a dental discount plan. Both types of dental plans will normally have low monthly rates. And both dental plans will reduce your dental cost making it more affordable to see the dentist.

Have you look into going to any dental clinic? If you are low income you should be able to get dental work at a clinic for very little no cost. Something to look into anyway

  3. Richard Says:

Dental clinics are good but so are dental schools if you have any around you. You may also want to look into that.

I think since you have little extra money getting a dental HMO insurance plan is the way to go. Many HMO will offer free preventive dental services. Such as your office visits, X-rays and basic teeth cleaning. Also they offer low cost for fillings.

Dental schools will not always just take you in. It can depend on what you need and if they are training for that at the time. I had to wait a month before getting into a dental school for some dental work.

I guess it can be different per school but you should ask these questions over the phone to make sure you are able to be seen.

Dental clinics are good but will normally work on a first come first basis. So make sure if you have one in your area to go to to get there early.

    Good Luck
