Dental Benefit – Denture and Seeing a Dentist

Wednesday, Jul. 27th 2022 6:54 AM

Dental appointments are still needed after receiving dentures, normally once a year,  more if necessary. The dentist will make any necessary adjustments to your dentures.  Never attempt to adjust or repair your dentures yourself.

Do it yourself repair kits can permanently damage your dentures and void out any warranty you may have on the dentures in addition if you have dental insurance they normally will not cover for replacement dentures until you have your current one for at least five years.

Denture Care When Not Being Worn.

Saturday, Jul. 23rd 2022 6:51 AM

Dentures need to be kept moist when not being worn so they do not dry out or lose their shape. When not worn, dentures should be placed in a denture cleanser soaking solution or in water.

However, if the denture has metal attachments, the attachments could tarnish if placed in a soaking solution. Your dentist can recommend the best methods for caring for your particular denture. Dentures should never be placed in hot water, as it can cause them to warp.

Wednesday, Jun. 29th 2022 6:25 AM

Question: I been putting of getting braces since I move often. In the past three years I have moved over five time in three different cities. I do not think things will really slow down for me and just wondering if orthodontic treatment is possible.

Answer:  It can be hard if you are wanting to have a dental insurance plan to help cover the cost of braces. Since depending on where you are moving can effect whether or not the insurance will be able to provide benefits to another provider.  If you are paying for braces out of pocket you should be able to find a orthodontic dentist that can take up where the last one stop since records can be forwarded to the new provider.  However cost then would very depending on each dental office.

Dental Benefit – Does invisible cavity need to be filled?

Saturday, Jun. 25th 2022 6:21 AM

Question:  I just went to the dentist the other day and was told that I have a  cavity on my front tooth, and that if I do not get a filling it will turn into a bigger issue. However I do not see this cavity that he says I have nor is that tooth hurting me at all due to any decay.  Is it really necessary for an invisible cavity to be filled?

Answer:  First having trust with your dentist is important therefore if you do not believe that your dentist is being honest with you about having a cavity think about getting a second opinion from a different dental office.  However often times small cavities do not cause dental pain until they become larger issues.  Just because you can not see it does not mean you do not have one. Ask the dentist to show it to you either by the X-rays that or have him point it out to you using a mirror.
