The concern  is that the chemicals used in teeth whiten products could be swallowed during the whitening process and the effects that may have on your baby.

Some dentist will encourage you to wait until after pregnancy and even some teeth whitening produce recommend not to using during pregnancy.  However if whitening your teeth is important to you the consult your doctor and a dentist before having your teeth whiten, in order to go about it in the safest way possible.

I went to my dentist who stated I did not have any cavities but I do have sever gum disease.  That I would need to get a deep cleaning to cure it.  Which he said he can do a deep cleaning in one visit.

Answer: By having a deep cleaning it will remove all plaque and tartar off your teeth and teeth root.  This is required in order for your gums to heal.  Normally you will have follow ups and more basic cleanings to maintain your teeth and gums. You will still need to do your part however in maintain good oral health care habits at home by brushing and flossing daily as advised.

Root Canal Surgery, Having to see a Specialist.

Tuesday, Apr. 22nd 2014 10:00 AM

My general dentist started doing my needed root canal but she said she can not finish it because of some blockage.  She said I will now have to go see a specialist.  This does not make sense to me since if she can not do the root canal why pay even more to see a specialist won’t a specialist have the same problem?  Thinking about just pulling the tooth out.

Answer:  Endodontists (Root Canal Specialist)  are dentists with at least two additional years of advanced specialty education in the diagnosis and treatment of root canals. Therefore they are better equipped to handle more differcult root canal cases.  You should never pull a tooth that can be saved.  It would also in the long run cost you more money having the tooth pulled since you will still need to then have a bridge, partial, or implant to replace the missing tooth.

Dental Benefit On Dental Coverages and Filing Claims Forms.

Thursday, Apr. 10th 2014 12:23 PM

When you have a dental insurance plan were you are dealing with the filing of claims it is important to understand the claims process.  Know how your insurance company handles claims and how the dentist your pick files out your claims.   Problems arises when you do not have a clear understanding of your dental insurance and how claims are paid.  As well as when you do not know how the dental office is going to make you pay and how they file out claims.

Many PPO plans or free choice of dentist plans state they pay out a certain percentage for preventive, basic and majors services.  However that percentage is still normally up to what the UCR or MAC rates are for dental company.

Knowing that is important and it is a good idea to submit dental services to the claims department as a quote only before any dental work is started.  That way you always know your true cost for the dental services before committing to it.

It is equally important to know how the dental office is going to file out your claim.  Do not assume that the dentist will not charge  you the full amount for the dental services render.  Making you wait for your refund back from the dental office. This is a mistake often made and normally it is after the fact. Causing many people to be upset.  Ask the dentist what they expect you to pay and how before work is started.  Do they file the claims for you or do you need to file them.

Knowing all this ahead of time will keep you from any unexpected billings  and from getting upset with the dental claim process.
