Dental Benefits on Halloween Candy.

Wednesday, Oct. 30th 2013 10:14 AM

Halloween can be very fun and trick or treating in the neighborhood for Halloween candy can be part of your child day. There is nothing wrong with candy per say, but as with most things too much is not good.

With that said,  many children can receive a years worth of candy in one day.  To much candy is not good for your child teeth as well as overall health. Go though your child candy and pick out the sugar free ones, and give sugary candy less often.

See if your local dentist is doing any candy trading. Some dentist will take sugary Halloween candy and provide sugar free option or coloring books as a way for parents to get rid of the extra candy their kids do not need. Also remember to practice good dental care habits with your child.

Have a safe and enjoyable Halloween this year.

In order to know what dental insurance plan is best for you or your family you first have to know your own dental needs.   Such as:  if you already have a family dentist you are wanting to stay with then it would be important to know what dental insurance plans they are a provider of.  Like wise if you have a dental need that needs to be address ASAP you may want to choose from a plan that will not have long term waiting periods.

Another good way in choosing the best dental plan for you or your family is to make sure you read the terms and conditions of each plan.  Understanding the plans limitations will help you choose the best plan for you.

Dental Benefit, Dental Providers in an HMO Dental Insurance Plan.

Saturday, Oct. 26th 2013 9:50 AM

When shopping for a low cost dental HMO insurance plan make sure the plan you are reviewing has more then one dental provider you may want to go to.  Most HMO dental insurance plan requires that you pick the dental provide you wish to see under their plan during the application process.  Yet you should make sure that there are at least two or more dental providers under the selected plan you are reviewing.

By picking a plan that has more then one dental provider in the mile radius you are willing to travel, you are leaving your self open to make changes if necessary.  You can not change dental providers if there is only one provider in the plan to pick from.  Therefore it may be best to choose and HMO with more dental providers, then one with fewer dental providers, even if benefits are slightly better with the plan that has less providers.

The Benefit of Ceramic Braces

Saturday, Oct. 12th 2013 8:55 AM

Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. Ceramic braces are used mainly on older teenagers and adult patients who have aesthetic concerns.

While ceramic braces are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to oral hygiene as ceramic braces are larger than metal braces. The only drawback to ceramic brackets is that they are more fragile, and the elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits with certain foods and smoking.

Benefits of Having Traditional Metal Braces.

Tuesday, Oct. 8th 2013 8:43 AM

Traditional metal braces are normally the more affordable brace option, since these are the type of braces that dental insurance plans will provide coverages on, when it is an available benefit under the plan.

Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces and are smaller and more comfortable then in the past. Made of high-grade stainless steel, metal braces straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires. With metal braces, you have the option of adding colored elastics (rubber bands) for a more unique and colorful smile
