Wednesday, Jul. 21st 2010 9:04 AM

I have an abscessed tooth that is just killing me.   There is no way I can have a root canal because they want $1500.00 plus crown cost and there no possible way I can afford that.  I would like to know if I go to the dentist just to have the tooth pulled.  Well it really effect my other teeth all that much?  The tooth I want to pull is in the back.

Dental health care, abscessed tooth

I am sure you could find a dentist that would just pull the tooth for you. However normally in order to pull a tooth the abscess need to gone. You may want to look into getting antibiotics for your abscessed tooth.

Also any gap left if you do not fill it with a bridge, partial or implant can leave you open to teeth shifting. That would be the risk you run if you just pull the tooth and do nothing more.

An abscessed tooth is nothing to mess with. You need to go to the dentist and have it taken care of ASAP. Now I can understand about cost but have you taken the time to look into going to a dental school or dental clinic both are normally much cheaper then going to a general dentist.

The abscess or infection and spread if not treated and cleared Do not wait until this becomes an even bigger issue then you want effecting you overall health care.

I had a tooth just pulled once and nothing more and I did have some slight shifting over a few years. I all depends on what you can afford and what you can put up with. I did not mind the gaping I had but other people many just hate it.
